FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF IAS

Full-time Professor Dragana MITROVIĆ

Dragana Mitrović, PhD., Full Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Belgrade and founder and President of the Institute for Asian Studies, is a leading expert on the economy, politics, international relations, and security of contemporary China and East Asia in our region. She is the founder and head of the Center for Asian and Far Eastern Studies and the master program, Regional Asian Studies, with the Faculty. Professor Mitrovic is the founder and editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Asian Issues (M53).

Professor Mitrović has an entire university career, from assistant to full professor (1988/today). She teaches Political Economy, Political Economy of International Relations, Political Economy of the People’s Republic of China and East Asia, Geopolitics and Geoeconomics. She is the author of six books, more than sixty scientific papers and dozens of journalistic works and interviews.

She also served one term as a counsellor for political affairs in the diplomatic service of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Beijing (2001, 2002) and as minister counsellor for economic and political affairs in the Embassy of Serbia and Montenegro (2003, 2004).

As an invited speaker, Professor Mitrović participated in more than sixty international scientific conferences. She is a frequent guest of domestic and foreign media as an interpreter of processes and phenomena from her expertise. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Economic Board of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
